Hey guys~
I'm out of town currently, so my sense of time-zones is a bit funky at the moment...
Hopefully I'm not too late with this notice- but Skullgirls got nominated for IGN's Best Of awards for best fighting game- it's based on a voting poll, so check it out (and vote for Skullgirls, that would be nice ;w;b)

Sorry about my lack of replies to notes and comments... my internet opportunities here are a bit limited + I'm just bad at keeping up with that stuff anyway =w=; It'll be one of my new years resolutions yusss haha~
Thanks!

Dark Solstice: Mood Board / Inspirations
As part of the process of working on the Dark Solstice illustration, I figured I should share some of the inspirations and references/ research that went into the concept. A lot of different sources contributed, and while I couldn't fit all of them on here, you can see several of the key ones included. I think it's important to have a variety of sources, ranging from things found in nature, art history, and contemporary pop culture, as well as a variety of mediums when possible. It's fascinating to also notice the overlap, and an awareness that no thing comes from nothing, and influences are a lineage that can be traced back quite far. It's good to be aware of both the source material as well as modern interpretations, in order to have a fuller picture of potential options and ideas. With that in mind, here is the mood board: The main inspiration for this idea was the Skull of Mary Magdalene. Seeing her skull in that glass case started to make me think about a setting with a dark
DA Focus - Poll 2: Composition~
This second poll is less formal, and I have a few preferences with which composition I'll be going with. However, I do like to hear what everyone's preferences are among these choices, to see if any stand out in particular. Feel free to vote in any of the polls and/or let me know in the comment which composition you like most. See the poll(s) here! https://www.deviantart.com/oh8/poll/DA-Focus-Poll-2A-Composition-8136121 https://www.deviantart.com/oh8/poll/DA-Focus-Poll-2B-Composition-8136122 https://www.deviantart.com/oh8/poll/DA-Focus-Poll-2C-Composition-8136126
Check out these artists~!
Hi everyone~! I wanted to feature some art from artists I follow, check out these illustrations and the artists that made them~! https://www.deviantart.com/overlordjc I've been a fan of :iconoverlordjc: for a long time. I remember getting a print of Yoko at Anime Expo maaany years ago, and I have been in touch with him since. Overlord JC's stuff is always solid, clearly able to capture that Trigger vibe and Capcom influences, but in his own way and energy. Great stuff, check it out ! https://www.deviantart.com/mikeluckas :iconmikeluckas: has such a fun and vibrant style, ranging from really big, ambitious group shots, to fun original characters- a nice balance between sexy pinup and cute, cool energetic shapes~ https://www.deviantart.com/edwinhuang :iconedwinhuang: is so prolific and constant with the amount of work he does, it's all amazing to see. Plus, he's just a really cool guy in general! Also, I really dig his original characters a ton too!!
DA Focus Artist ~! Poll 1: Subject
I am the Focus Artist on DeviantArt for the month of May! I have been given the task of making an exclusive commission for DeviantArt and will be sharing the process with all of you during the month. To start things off, I'm running a poll on DA to ask for your opinion on which subject to focus on for this illustration. Here's more info about these two choices: Kartika - During my time on Indivisible, I had done a lot of extensive research and collected many notes for future reference. I wanted to try applying some of the elements and aesthetics from that in future works. This idea follows a lower rank asura named Astrasura, as her village becomes subject to the greater plan of the gods. She manages to get a hold of the kartika, a sacred carving knife of the gods, and plans to wield it against them in an act of defiance. I found it really fascinating and inspiring how a lot of Vajrayana Buddhist imagery had incredibly stylized ways of depicting gore and violence, which was a
